The Crater and the Vintage Train Ride.

The Wifey planned an outing for the family and it was very interesting. As I've mentioned before, I've always loved the history of small towns and places that rarely get seen. We headed out to Heber City, just through the mountains and Southwest of SLC. Small town with plenty of small shops and curiosities. Thrift stores, burger shops, ice cream shops, touristy types and plenty to see.

We had an experience at The Crater at The Homestead. A geothermal pool inside a dome-like hill. With life vests on, we soaked in the warm, mineral pool. It was, honestly, one of my fears. Being in a dark cave, in the water. Fearing that something, or someone, would reach up from the murky water and pull me under. A dive team finding my disintegrating body on the floor of the cave.

Along with the cave swim/float/nightmare fuel, we had a reservation to take a vintage train ride. We got to ride in older style passenger cars that had been slightly renovated and kept up to working condition. It definitely had that old smell of dried leather and old paint. Regardless of the smell, the views were pretty good.
