Roxanne and The Police.

Back when I was still a kid, our family would take trips back to New Mexico. We had a lot of family there and our parents loved to see all of our relatives. Being on The Rez, especially at night, is quite an experience. Imagine one main road, barely any street lights or road indicators, livestock roaming freely, miles away from any kind of establishments and feeling very isolated. One of the most recent times we went back, my brother was driving and we were heading through at night. Coming up to a little hill with a blind spot, another driving coming the opposite way, flashed their brights at us. My brother slowed down a bit, and at the top of the hill, heading back down, there was a horse standing in the middle of the road. My dad was a huge fan of older rock music and he was happy to find this song. After the song ended, the radio dj mentioned a few things about the weather and local news and he went right back into ‘Roxanne.’ After that turn ended, again, right back into the same song. We drove through the night and listened to this renegade/pirate radio dj playing the same song over and over and over again. We never did get an explanation how or why this station was able to pull this off, but it made for a good memory with the family. Being out there, in the homeland, listening to 'Roxanne'…
